When should we migrate to ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 was officially published on the 12th March 2018. All businesses certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 from this date have 3 years to migrate to the ISO 45001:2018 standard.
If your businesses annual external audit is scheduled between January and February to early March, your certification body and auditor is likely to advise you to go for the migration in 2020.
This is so your business has time to correct any potential non-conformances before the migration date passes.
Failure to migrate within the required time frame would result in your business losing its certification and having to undergo the full certification process again, through Stage 1 and Stage 2, in order to become re-certified.
Businesses yet to migrate are therefore likely to be going for ISO 45001:2018 at some point in 2020. If you would like some advice on the changes within the new Occupational Health and Safety standard, please get in contact with us and one of our consultants will be happy to chat.
