It’s World Accreditation Day!

Why is accreditation important? Independent accreditation is vital if we are to have effective organisational certifications. Certificates that are issued which are not supported by effective accreditation will not provide the confidence we need to support environmentally sustainable economic growth.

UKAS, the National Accreditation Body for the UK, shares that World Accreditation Day “provides an opportunity for accredited certification, inspection, testing and calibration organisations to showcase how their accredited activities help improve quality and increase trade, whilst simultaneously addressing environmental concerns.”

UKAS also recently announced they are launching a free certification checking service. This service, UKAS CertCheck, is a tool that will allow verification of whether management system certifications are UKAS accredited or not. Some UKAS accredited certification bodies include Alcumus Isoqar, BM Trada, BSI, Control Union, DNV, LRQA, NQA, and SGS.
