Thorne revives ISO certification after nearly 25 years

CJ Thorne & Co Ltd, the multi award winning civil engineering contractors based in Uckfield, East Sussex has revived their plans to achieve ISO 9001 certification after nearly 25 years.

Chris Thorne comments:

“When I first joined the business I was tasked with preparing for what was then BS 5750 and we did everything to put the system in place but then decided not to get certified. At that time it was not a requirement of our clients and so we dropped it for reasons of cost.

We have now decided that we do need ISO certification to help us with our tenders as well as underpin our process improvement and we have asked 2SB to provide us with the assistance we need.”

Chris Passmore adds:

“Chris certainly put a lot of effort in to the preparation for BS 5750 and what he did in documenting the procedures remains a good foundation for the work which we are now doing with them to achieve UKAS accredited certification.

The ISO 9001:2015 standard has much greater focus on risk management, competence of staff, continual improvement and leadership and we look forward to helping them achieve ISO 9001 certification.”
