“Not tied in Knots”
I was not keen to have to go down the ISO route since I was concerned that it was going to tie us in knots and after running this business successfully all my life that was the last thing I wanted to do. When our main client said that we had to have UKAS accredited ISO 9001 certification or they might take away the business I realised that I had to do something and after asking around was recommended to speak to Chris Passmore of 2SB.
Chris understood what we wanted and working with our son James “threaded” our established business practises into the specific requirements of the ISO Standard. We had to add a few elements, but nothing that wasn’t logical or reasonable in helping improve our business practises.
Chris introduced us to the assessor from ISOQAR and then we were on our own. After the stage two assessment we were delighted to receive the following letter from ISOQAR:
“I am writing to extend our congratulations to yourself and your staff on your recent successful Stage 2 audit by ISOQAR on 22nd May 2012.
As you are aware, our auditor did not raise any non-conformances on this audit. This is a superb achievement on an initial audit and one which you and your staff should be justifiably proud.
Congratulations once again”
Having UKAS accredited ISO 9001 has met the needs of our main client, been useful in helping complete other tender documents and helped us tidy up parts of our business which needed a bit of attention. If you find that you have to get UKAS accredited ISO Certification, I would recommend that you use 2SB to explain what you need to do without tying you in knots.
